The tool, recently updated and expanded in scope, is called Hasher-Matcher-Actioner (HMA), and is part of the set of solutions for the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism (GIFCT). Meta, along with YouTube, Twitter, and Microsoft, launched GIFCT in 2017, along with government and civil society organizations, and became a recognized non-profit following the 2019 Christchurch mosque attacks.
